Will We Worry? - Call to Worship or Litany
Happy are those who fear the Lord, Their descendants will be mighty and blessed.
Will we worry about our children?
Happy are those who fear the Lord, their houses are full of wealth and riches
Will we worry about our homes?
Happy are those who fear the Lord; they have distributed freely, giving to the poor, and their righteousness endures forever. It is well with those who deal generously and lend, those who conduct their affairs with justice.
Will we worry about our money?
Happy are those who fear the Lord; they are not afraid of evil tidings, their hearts are firm, and they will not be afraid.
Will we worry for “the next shoe to drop?”
Happy are those who fear the Lord; they will never be moved, they will be remembered forever.
Will we worry about our legacy?
Happy are those who fear the Lord, the wicked will see them and be angry, melting in their own fears, their works amount to nothing.
Will we worry about the opinions of others?
For the Lord of all will not stand in awe of anyone or show deference to greatness,
because God made both small and great and takes thought for all alike. The Lord of all fears nothing. Happy are those who fear the Lord, who greatly delight in God’s commandments. So what shall we fear, stand in awe, or show deference to? Anything besides our God?
Nothing! Praise the Lord!
An original creative work, this litany is based on Psalm 112 and small portions of Wisdom of Solomon 5. This could be an ambitious call to worship with the ending phrase "Praise the Lord."
I think it could be used as a "response to the word" after the sermon as well. Repeating themes of "do not be afraid" occur throughout the bible and tie this idea of happiness as being "not stand[ing] in awe of anyone or showing deference to greatness," besides God ties to the assurance in Psalm 112.
