Psalms of Falling Empire
Prine
He toasts his wife and all his family
The providence he brought to bear
They raise their glasses in his honor
Although this union they don't share
A man who lives among them
Was still a stranger to them all
For when the heart is never open
That's how every empire falls
Psalm
Better is honesty that the righteous person has
than the abundant providence of many empires.
God knows the days of the open-hearted,
and their providence will abide forever;
they are not put to shame in evil times,
in the days of famine they have abundance.
Some People Ain’t Human
Some humans ain't human
Some people ain't kind
Peter went up on the roof to pray. He became hungry and wanted something to eat, and while it was being prepared he fell into a trance. He saw the heaven opened and something like a large sheet coming down, being lowered to the ground by its four corners.
Welcoming Prayer
Come, all are welcome in our worship.
We worship a God who becomes what they love,
We worship a God who became human,
Became fully human in love, and still fully divine.
We worship a God who can handle all of our humanity
Intercession for Love
Dearest Healing and Enabling God,
We pray for those of us who cannot fully love you.
Those who have been too hurt by the church or other believers
Those who are tied to logic and miss the truth in mystery and the liminal
Those for whom the weight of the presence of evil occluded your presence ….
A Community Led Communion Liturgy
This communion liturgy is based on words from Scripture in John and the Wisdom of Solomon. This liturgy is to be led by the community, inviting the Holy Spirit to work through the priesthood of all believers. The cup and bread are passed beginning one person before the first reader, the cup and bread follow the leaders as the liturgy is passed and read around the circle of community.
Holy Feminine Praise- Welcome & Benediction
Welcome and Benediction in the voice of Holy Feminine Praise
Holy Feminine Praise - Collaborative Message Liturgy
This worship service was created for a hybrid worship space on zoom and in person in multiple locations. It can be easily modified to fit completely online or in person alone. There is no central speaker, the message is curated by the experiences of those in attendance. Multiple people can serve as worship hosts and as the voice of scripture to further the collaborative nature of this worship service.
A Community Approach to Infant Baptism
The whole community should gather around the water, reaching out their arms toward the baptismal font. Baptized members should take turns reading the following statements:
Holy Separator of the Waters, You created a holy space for us to flourish, ordaining through creation a safe and nurturing home for us.
Holy Drawer of the Rainbow, you transformed the arrows of flooding rains into a promise of protection and sustenance for the future.
Holy Parter of the Sea, You delivered your people from danger to safety and covenant in the desert.
You are the Promised Land for your people.
A Community based Baptismal Liturgy
Triune God,
We pray for the life and witness of our new sibling, we pray we may love and support them and collectively all grow more in your likeness. Please open us to the Good News they’ll reveal to our community as a reflection of your ever-revealing image. Give us patience and flexibility to incorporate their wisdom. In your wisdom, Holy Sophia, root us in holy scriptures and traditions that draw us closer to the reign of God and mutual flourishing. We pray we are instruments of your will. Bless and keep this and all our siblings, born of the body of Christ. Let us be a blessing to all of creation and glorifying to you.
Amen
